This week I feature my dad, 3-time national certified fiddling champion and an Arizona State fiddling champion, Peter "Doc" Rolland. In the 1970's my dad taught fiddling at 5 western universities and traveled around Arizona recording the playing of old time fiddlers across the state. He put together a book of Arizona based fiddle tunes for his students, and he later recorded an album featuring some rare and beautiful Arizona fiddle tunes from his field research. However, not every tune that my dad collected made it into the book. This tune, Three Legged Milk Stool, is one of those rarest of rare tunes, and this video is probably the only video lesson ever recorded that teaches it. We recorded this lesson in beautiful Westcliffe, Colorado right after the first annual Rolland Fiddle Camp. So enjoy!
