I put up a couple of lessons on Cherokee Shuffle, a killer up-tempo fiddle tune played by grassers and old-timey players alike. There's a video on the basic melody, and then you can take another lesson on the advanced old-timey version, which adds in a bunch of drones, double stops, and more precise “fiddle” bowings.  These lessons are in the key of D, because that's how the old-timey players do it.  Some also call this version of Cherokee shuffle Lost Indian, so you may have heard it recorded under that name as well.  Make sure that you have watched the “Basic Melody” lesson for Cherokee Shuffle before working on this more difficult version. I also added another video teaching an old-timey variation on the A part (this "variation" is pretty common, so I definitely wanted to include it!). As usual, gold members can stream these lesson for no added charge.

Cherokee Shuffle: Advanced Old Timey - AUDIO CLIP

I'll be putting up an advanced bluegrass version of Cherokee Shuffle at some point, so stay tuned for that.  The bluegrass version will be in the key of A, because that's how all those crazy bluegrassers do it 😉  I'll probably add some wild Aubrey Haynie licks in there to keep it really interesting.
