I just posted a nice big Texas Style lesson, featuring the hoedown "Say Old Man, Can You Play the Fiddle?" It's a great tune in the key of E. As a tune traditionally played more in Eminor but played more in Emajor in Texas style, it's a great example of how Texas Style fiddling can alter tunes in subtle ways to make them unique. The YouTube video below features my round at the 2011 National Fiddlers Contest in which I played Say Old Man as a hoedown, which is the version you will learn in the Gold Member lesson. Take this arrangement and play it in a contest somewhere!
Good stuff Mike! My kids just bought me a fiddle for my birthday. I’d always wanted to learn to play one and now I’ve got to get busy and get some of the beginner basics down so I can play some of the fiddle lessons on this site as well. That will give me a chance to mix it up with the guitar picking.
If you’re going to be at the Flagstaff bluegrass festival in a less than a couple weeks, I’ll try and hunt you down and say “hi” as I’ll probably be there on Saturday. Am not sure about Friday night or Sunday but we’ll see. I like listening to Run Boy Run and have caught them a couple of times in the past year so I’ll be there for their show at the very least!

That would be great Max! I’ll definitely be there!
