Howdy everyone! Will you waltz with me?

I got some requests for some beautiful fiddle waltzes, so i decided to amp up the schmaltz at FiddlinMike.com and teach some pretty songs that will bring a tear to your eye...or at least challenge you to play in 3/4 time!

This week's New Gold Member Lesson's are called Margaret's Waltz and Redeemed Waltz!  I've also uploaded a video on the Eb chord for guitar players. It goes through several forms of the EB Major chord, and builds on our chord series, which will continue every week!

Redeemed Waltz is actually an old hymnal tune that has been picked up by Texas style players and played in contests. It's usually played in the key of Eb in contests, but I teach it in the more fiddle friendly key of D, which is the same key I heard mandolin great Butch Baldassari play it in. Margaret's Waltz is a beautiful Irish waltz - we need to do more Irish! -- composed by fiddler Pat Shuldham Shaw, and has since been embraced by bluegrass and old-timey fiddlers, as well as guitar players (notably Bryan Sutton). Watch the clips below to hear the tunes. As usual, these Gold Member lessons come with a video, sheet music, TAB, and an audio file.
