Peacock Rag is a tune by the great fiddler Arthur Smith, who also wrote Blackberry Blossom. I played this tune with my dad after the first annual Rolland Fiddle Camp in Westcliffe, Colorado (see peterrolland.com to learn more about next year's camp). My dad is an expert on old time fiddling and a master fiddle historian, so I decided to teach you his interpretation of this old classic. Pay attention to the stylistic information, specifically playing slides. I also give a couple of good tips on chord progressions and playing double stops, so watch out for that!

Michael., I think you are doing an outstanding job teaching on this website! I do have one suggestion. I would like to see you play the whole tune slowly so that we can play with you and get all the little accents. You are doing great working with each part, but when I play with the guitar It is not working out for me. I don’t know if this is a problem for anyone else. Full speed in the beginning is very helpful. We know how it should sound when played correctly, but I would like to be able to play it all the way through with you at the slow speed you are using before playing with the Rythm. It would be very helpful. Thanks
Great version of Peacock Rag! Thanks! I love the way it swings!
Thanks Carrie! That’s my dad for ya! He’s got great feel.
What are the guitar chords that you played with your father. I wish you always put the guitar chords in you sheet music. I an a guitar player first learning fiddle.
Mark, I’ll definitely get those up there for ya!
