I learned Sleepy Eyed Joe from a nice Norman Blake album called "Old Ties". It's a fairly simply tune, but we are going to learn some complex "rhythm picking" patterns that allow you to pick leads while still playing rhythm. This is a difficult technique, and one that the great pickers like Norman Blake utilized often. This is the first in the 3 part Sleepy Eyed Joe series; we're just going to learn the basic melody.
