Hey there fiddlers and pickers,

I know many of you are anxious to have complete access to the site and to start getting your lessons, and we're finally getting the there!  The boys at Sherwood Productions have done a great job setting things up, and the site is just days away from completion.  Stay tuned, and soon you'll be able to download to your hearts content!

Things have been busy here for me.  In addition to getting the site ready, I've been preparing to head to the National Fiddle Contest in Wesier, Idaho next week.  It's been years since I've attended, and I'm excited to finally head back and see all of my old fiddle friends.  Probably the best part about fiddle contests is the jamming.  The contests themselves can be fun, but all the real action goes on in the campground when everyone sits around trading tunes and trying play the best version.  To give you guys a taste of what it's like I'll be posting videos of jam sessions and contest rounds from the best champion fiddlers.  In honor of the contest I'm going to post a number of lessons on Texas Style and Contest Fiddling, as well as controlled improvisation, which is what you're like to hear at a Texas Style jam session.

After Weiser, I'm heading down to Westcliffe, Colorado, where my Dad is putting on the first annual Rolland Fiddle Camp in the beautiful Sangre De Cristo's.  He put a lot of work into this camp, and I'm excited to teach a new batch of students.  I'll probably post a lesson or two on location so you guys can get a glimpse of the beautiful forest and mountain area where it's located.

Until then, keep fiddling and stay tuned for the official launch of FiddlinMike.com!
